testing 'diet' Coke

Out with friend this evening, my diet Coke (from a tap) tasted 'off'. Stuck my BS meter in it and it came up with 11mmol/L against my friend's 'diet' lemonade which registered LO (yes, living it up!).
Got it changed, but just trying to get my head round this - is that 11g carbs/100ml, so 30+carbs in my 300ml-ish glass?

Oops, I thought I'd posted this to general questions.
 
I've heard the drinks from a 'mixer' tap aren't always quite as they are expected to be. I suspect that when a 'diet' drink is poured from the mixer tap straight after a 'full fat' drink, there has to be a certain amount left in the tube

Also, without it being poured from a bottle, there's no way of knowing if the mixer tap has been connected to the correct source.

Unless I took some (urine) dip sticks out with me, I always ask for a bottled variety. I think I might try a test next time I'm out, just to see what it was that I was given. That could be a long'ish wait though as I don't go out that much
 
Thanks. I am a bit wary of mixer taps which is why I checked, but the option was bottled pepsi which I don't like so much - and I object to having to pay more to get what I actually asked for!).
 
If the Diet Coke doesn’t say lo, it isn’t Diet Coke.

Occasionally I use the meter test too to confirm Diet- or non-Diet Coke. It works.
 
You can stick a blood glucose strip into drinks to test them? Well not my accuchek mobile perhaps but my old one would now have a use if so
 
I bought some glucose urine test strips and some little 16x35mm glass vials from Amazon.

Snip the end off the glucose test strips with some scissors and keep them in the tiny glass vial in my meter case.

According to its nutritional info a 355 ml/12 ounce can of Coke has 39 g of carbs and 39 g of sugar.
