Testing Strips

The Diabetic Nurse at my GP has advised that it is not recommended to test on Type 2 ?

Only been diagnosed recently and am finding this a bit odd as I have now bought strips and a meter myself and it is beginning to help me understand a bit more about my body tolerances.

The downside is it costs me a fortune in strips...can we push for these ?

I'd advise you to go over the nurses head and speak to your GP, I've done that and the GP thinks that self monitoring is a good idea for me, so getting a prescription for test strips and lancets wasn't a problem.

Even after handing the nurse my results today and her finding them really useful, to the extent that she said the monitoring was proving I was doing the right things, she still tried to tell me I don't need to monitor at all.
