I am newly diagnosed and am wondering what people's experience of blood glucose meters is? Any recommendations on the best system to buy? Is the iBGStar any good? All advice appreciated. Only been a member for an hour or so and have learnt so much already! )

Hello and welcome!

A testing kit is essential if you are to take control of this disease, although most likely your GP and nurse will say otherwise. I don't think there is a great deal of difference between any of these meters other than the price of the strips. They can be expensive. Many people here buy the SD Codefree because the strips are the cheapest available. (Only available on-line).

I used the ibg star and found the readings really high if you wants meter to use on the iphone I would use the dario system I am currently using this meter and the iphone app is fantastic and it has a food diary included with in the app
