Hi, going to Thailand and am on Metformin, Gliclazide, Levothyroxine and Ramipril. My husband takes Bisoprolol, a beta blocker for arrhythmia. I don't think any of these are restricted, but wondered if anyone has been, and can advise us. It is only a beach/package holiday, not intending to travel around.

Take twice as much as you expect to need,

Keep it in your hand luggage - and don't let that leave your paws.

Get a covering letter from you GP showing that you have been prescibed these meds.

Just to add to bamba's reply, keep the meds in their original containers, I would have half in my hand luggage and half in my checked luggage just in case you loose one or the other.

To add to the others, I would take twice what you both need, and put half in his handluggage and half in yours. Don't let either bag out of your sight. If they go in the hold it is likely to be extremely cold - you would have to check the minimum storage temperatures. Do not forget a doctor's letter.

Hi I lived in Thailand for 4 years and can tell you that you can buy nearly all drugs over the counter or if not and you were desperate you can just go along, with your passport, showing your tourist visa, to a Government Hospital, NOT A PRIVATE ONE WHICH WILL COST A FORTUNE and you will be able to see a doctor who will prescribe you your medication. You will have to pay but probably no more than £50 at the most. The Hospitals and the Doctors are totally safe and clean. Good luck and have a fab time

Hi, I live in Thailand. In the larger tourist towns you can get everything over the counter. Some good advice above, especially to use the hospitals, don't be tempted to use a small pharmacy if you can avoid them.

I ran out of one med in Pattaya and bought a 30 day supply at a local pharmacy and got charged 1500 Baht, about £35. I now get them at my local hospital for only 150 Baht.

Enjoy your trip.
