Thalassemia trait affecting blood glucose readings

I have the Thalassemia B trait as a carrier but not a sufferer. I was recently diagnosed as pre diabetic and wondered if this condition may give false glucose readings. I am also IgA deficient and have autoimmune Neutropenia.

regarding the Thalassemia, I suspect it all depends on the severity of the condition, how well under control it is, and so on.
It is widely understood that iron deficiency anaemia does affect the HbA1c, but usually only if at least moderately deficient.

there is an alternative test to the HbA1c that can be used where anaemia is present (the fructosamine test), but it depends on whether your doc knows the test exists, can order it, and understands how it works.

Neither the IgA deficiency nor the neutropenia are going to directly affect your iron/glucose, so I think those are questions you need to ask an expert about.

are you under the care of a clinic for your conditions? If so, they should be able to answer your questions properly.
