Hello from a newbie who has been "lurking" for ~4 months.
Diagnosed Type 2 in Oct, HbA1c 59. This followed on from a random non-fasting blood test of 13.0, after a visit to the doctor in Aug about something completely different. I've never had any typical diabetes symptoms.
So managed to convince doc to let me try diet and exercise for a bit. 6 weeks later had dropped half a stone, and HbA1c down to 54, so was allowed to continue.
Back for my latest results yesterday, having lost more than a stone and now back to a healthy BMI. HbA1c now 43! Soooo happy.
No medication required for now, although BP and cholesterol still on the high side, so being kept under obs for another 3 months.
Much of this is thanks to the lovely people running and contributing to this forum. I've gone moderately low carb, bought a meter and test regularly, thanks to advice found here.
Hopefully I can continue to keep it up.
(PS I know I am still diabetic - I treated myself to fish and chips on Friday and still had double digit numbers more than 3 hours later when I went to bed :-( )

Hi, Welcome :)

Fantastic! brilliant progress!

Thankyou for unlurking yourself in such an inspirational way :)

Hi and welcome!

Great progress indeed-it does take some time testing what foods you can tolerate but it eventually becomes second nature and I find it now 2 years on after diagnosis as simple as 123,ABC.

Best wishes

Paul

Welcome, SueKen!
Congrats on your BG management and weight-loss.
I'm still testing out foods, but, am coming to some rather quick understanding of what will work.:inpain:
