After having a look at a few different type1 D forums, it has become apparent that there is a new trend of people worrying over the results of the recent ACCORD STUDY.

Accord involved type 2 (likely overweight) Americans, Under intensive therapy their blood sugars were normalised using medication alone and it was noted they experienced heart problems. Is this a surprise ?

Achieving normal blood sugars (4-6%) in a normal type1 diabetic through correct insulin dosing, exercise and diet is completely different and will NOT result in heart problems.

Must say havnt heard of this study.. (not been active on forums for a while). From what u said and who they studied not a surprise and not a very comprehensive study. See on the tv alot about overweight type 2, but nothing at all about healthy active type 1 or type 2. I think thats why the general population regard any type diabetics as lazy overweight people who can't eat sugar. Have it said to me alot when people find out cause I'm athletic you dont look the type.
