The affect of prednisolone on type 2 diabetes

Hi I have type 2 diabetes and currently take metformin and gliclazide. I have other health issues including asthma. Yesterday I started a 7 day course of prednisolone 5mg, 8 tablets as a single dose. My usual sugar levels usually vary around 7.0 My earlier reading today was 10.2 tonight after having a swim and 2.5 hrs after having something to eat I've had a reading of 18.2 any help or advice would be appreciated please

Prednisilone is a Steroid.

Steroids (generally) are known to raise our blood glucose levels.

Thankyou, I've never been on steroids before. It was a bit of a shock
