The Art of Applying Common Sense - LDL, puritans, vegetarianism & statinss

Yes I do mean the same WHO. I actually mean the 7th Day adventists, who dominate the research funded largely by outfits like Kellogs, which was founded by them , however in practice one should not assume that these various groups operate in isolation , hence the Oldways conference ( the True Health Intiative funded by Barilla pasta and Oldways ) taking place in the Vatican.

All wheels within wheels in an economic circle of which we as private punters have no conception what is happening and unfortunately neither do governments

Shame the WHO don't mention them. Kellogg now owned by Kraft, an even bigger evil.

Yes Kellog the only outfit refusing to adopt the traffic light system in the UK ! - which frankly isn't worth much but shows the mind set !

To be fair, the Vatican does have a science branch, and one of the world's oldest observatorys. Typically staffed by the Jesuits though, who are sometimes viewed with suspicion by the other Catholic orders. But the Catholics aren't the only religion piling on with this message:-

So there's pressure from many angles. Stern's view is perhaps more dangerous as he's been influential and frequently wrong. Like here, where he overlooks the water stress that would come from switching to vegetarian diets. That's already an issue in places like Florida and California, which grow and export a lot of soft fruits, which essentially means exporting those state's fresh water. It also overlooks the role of animals in converting otherwise unproductive farmland into useful protein, eg hillside sheep and goat farming.

I think the problem is there are some who want to force their views onto others. If people decide to be vegetarian for health or ethical reasons, that's fair enough. It's their choice. Where it gets dangerous is when they start lobbying.

I found this profoundly disturbing as a Catholic. The Vatican has a perfect right to instruct it's congregation on the teachings of the church and to give guidance to those who are members of that congregation but I feel that it does not have the right to dictate the choices available to the wider population who are not members of that faith The WHO should be an independent body able to discuss all matters that it feels affect health,
