Daily express today page 38, Keano a black labrador ballooned to 7st 2lb with his love of - wait for it !!! TOAST, BISCUITS and nightly bowl of WEETABIX . After his diet was sorted he has lost 22lbs and is fitter like a puppy again and more energy.

I know, hes a dog but isnt there a parallel here ??

you know I dont post here but

it is stupid owner!!! I have to 2 black labradors , an old lady of 12 and a new puppy.

labradors do not seem to have any appetite control they will keep on eating and eating. My old one has stolen food - fillet steak, bread etc . in fact this morning I found the puppy ripping open the food waste bag in my kitchen and tucking into veg peelings!. The older one will steal next doors cat food and the bread for the birds!

Labs need strict control so I am not sure there is a parallel other than stupid owners! Plus alot of exercise - would rec it for the owners keeps you fit.
 
Dear Ally ........ your puppy was perhaps trying to find something nutritious as i recall a little while ago it was eating your memory stick :( Whatever do you feed it.

hi six foot - puppy food but not the dried muck = makes them drink gallons of water.

Labs are greedy dogs but also will chew anything so doors have to be shut but it is always the time when you forget or kids forget and she finds something she shouldnt! Yes she has chewed memory stick and got the charger for a laptop the other day! Wonder what the carb value is lol

Everyone I know who has a lab says the same thing - so you have to be very strict with them. maybe the owners forget that they are dogs not humans!
 
In my experience you need to speak really sternly to them.










They still do it but look even more guilty while they are tucking into something they shouldn't!!
 
You think labradors are bad - my two inuits have eaten two three piece suites between them, countless games controllers that my kids have left out and about 10 pairs of shoes :)

and isn't it always the case that the tastiest thing they can possibly find is always in the bottom of the garbage pail?

This involves strewing the rest of the contents all over the floor to find it.
 
Labradors seem to remain puppies till arthritis gets them.They are such good dogs especially for working.Ours were always working dogs and were the easiest to train as well.
 
sue they are luvly dogs and the old one has been brill with my kids. The new puppy is mad ! but luvable but they have no control at all over food.

I give the older one glucosamine and she is like a 2 year old.
 
There is enough clinical evidence that it reduces pain in humans - it seems to have the same effect as ibubrofen . I rec it many of my pts and I take it myself - had a niggle in knee when running which has gone! Mind you the doggie stuff is 10 times the cost for humans!
