The effect of carbohydrate malabsorption on blood sugar levels

I'm just fascinated by how one condition might impact on another, so this week's burning question is 'If one has low stomach acid and therefore carbohydrate malabsorption, what impact does that have on blood sugar levels?' In other words, if the carb malabsorption issue gets fixed, does that mean that blood sugar levels would rise above the level they were at when the carbs weren't being properly absorbed?

Have seen it recommended that digestive enzymes should be taken with food for better digestion. I take them myself and they helped me with taking a big meal before I had diabetes. Helped prevent wind. I no longer take big meals but still take them. It is an act of faith rather than a certainty that they work.

It's an interesting question.
Some of us are on proton pump inhibitors, which actually decrease stomach acid.
I was on them for a long while, before I was diagnosed. When I changed my diet, I found I didn't need them any more.
So personally, I haven't found increasing acid increases blood sugar, but I changed a lot of other things at the same time!
