The good old days?
Bath night in the winter when you had to run from the bathroom to the living room because it was the only room in the house with a fire. Going to bed with hot water bottles that burnt at first and then colder and colder. Army blankets and greatcoats on the bed to keep the warmth in. Milk bottles on the doorstep with 2" of frozen cream/milk sticking out the top. Not having a modern enough car to have a heater. There's a theme here.
Black and white telly with only one station which went off the air at 6pm so parents could get their kids to bed. Some soppy bloke making pottery when they ran out of programmes to show. The National Anthem played last thing at night when the programmes ended.
Making our own Christmas decorations out of coloured paper strips that had to be licked to make them stick. The taste left in your mouth for days afterwards.
The good old days? Yes they were. I would have them back like a shot so long as the people I miss come back with them.
   Love it!
Me too!
....and the opposite of frozen milk in the winter - soured warm school milk in the summer!
Party line telephones ( you never knew who was eavesdropping)
Great big heavy old bikes without gears.
The freedom to stay outside all day long during the holidays, without your Mum worrying, and only coming home to eat.
Those red, rubbed marks round your legs where your wellies rubbed in the winter....no thing such as comfy moon boots!
Olive oil to rub in your skin in the summer....Oh dear, who thought up that one? :***:
Foraging in the summer for raspberries to make jam.
Homemade chips in greaseproof paper cones.
Teachers who could spell.
Proper old-fashioned manners - asking to leave the table, please and thank you's.
Lovely script writing we all had to learn.
Now that's got my thinking cap on - have to trawl through the gloop that is my brain now.
