I have just finished my lunch, a chicken salad with a few mixed bean added. I watched son no. 2 devour half a french stick with lashings of butter, ham and pickles. I am envious when I think that the only choice of bread open to me is soya and linseed, stoneground or sourdough.
I have succumbed before and eaten the same as he has just eaten but I know what it will do to my blood sugars. I never feel guilt, it is more desire for what I cannot have and then I pay the price for the next 24 hours.
This article is very interesting, The History of Bread.

"Bread, in one form or another, has been one of the principle forms of food for man from earliest times.
In the Stone Age, people made solid cakes from crushed barley and wheat".
