Was playing back ground music at a function this lunch time and the organisers very kindly suggested we take a break and go visit the buffet......and that's pretty much all I did. Visit.
Sandwiches, pasties, pastries of all descriptions. Things wrapped in filo pastry, things coated in breadcrumbs. It all looked beautiful but there wasn't one single thing there I could eat.
People of all shapes and sizes, filling their plates and washing it all down with alcohol. I'd never really noticed before. This was a pretty high brow gig. There was nothing there that came "3 packs for £5". If this is considered good food , it's no wonder obesity is at the level it is.
- thinking back, I went on a four day course last summer, as staff. I didn't eat with the group once. - I wasn't diabetic then but I couldn't eat gluten. Everything was either wrapped in bread, bread crumbs or pastry. Most meals were buffet style, so I do mean everything! I ended up eating at the campus theatre coffee shop. - the staff very kindly phoned the supplier and made sure that, as well as panini and baguettes, sushi was delivered every day, which they kept for me.
There isn't really a point to this thread. - unless people want to share their experiences of "catering"??

PS, I'd had an early lunch, so I didn't starve.
