The Pistorius circus rolls on

I don't understand - he's been found guilty of murder and all we're waiting for is the sentence. Why all the concern about whether he is fit to testify? Surely that's all been done? I feel so sorry for Reeva's family - I can't imagine what they're going through.

Legal cases around the world take forever .... this is just a case that gets reported more due to Oscar.

Personally deeply saddened as Oscar was a hero. I lost my leg through cancer when I was 19, Oscar pushed the boundaries for amputees. But if he murdered Reeva he has to go to jail - and for a long time.

Agree, he shot an unarmed woman through a locked door. He knew it wasn't an intruder. He is/was a wealthy man and white to boot. So money and colour still talks it seems. Personally I think he should be locked up for a long time.

He was an abusive and jealous boyfriend a very bad combination. He received special treatment because he was famous and probably good looking and has connections. He deserves jail time.

Very sad tragedy for Reeva, her entire family and Oscar and all their shattered lives.

LI accept the rule of South African law has prevailed, but I remained unconvinced by the conviction of murder. I followed the case very carefully, but I think if I had been on the jury I would have struggled to convict.

However I do accept that based on the final decision of the justice process, prison time is required for this young fallen hero.

He said he thought it was an intruder on the other side of the door. Even if that was true is it legal to shoot through a door and kill an intruder? I don't think so. Guilty of murder and should be jailed for life.

Yes I understand that I am in the minority, just not totally convinced, but happy that the democratic process of law is prevailing!

His defence lawyer is sly. He got Pistorius to walk across the courtroom on the stumps of his legs (minus prosthetics) to show how "vulnerable" Pistorius is. Why do that? So the jury will feel sorry for him and be lenient in judgement? Sick!!!

It's incredible the lengths barristers have to go to when working on behalf of there clients... ...Not sure I could stomach it.

Even if he did think it was an intruder ...and I don't think for a minute that he did ...he would still have shot them and probably have killed them so that would still have been an unlawful killing and no one can just kill someone in cold blood and get away with it high profile figure or not. Surely if he had really thought he had an intruder in the house he would have phoned the police or at least got out of the house then called for help not just shoot them. I hope he gets the good long sentence he deserves

It would be interesting if you stated your concerns. There is absolutely no doubt he killed her and his explanation doesn't add up. He said that he didn't realise that she wasn't still in bed with him. You must think it is OK to shoot through a door at a human being that you haven't seen because he thinks that it is OK

Murder is considered to be a premeditated act and, although I agree that Pistorius' story contains more holes than a colander, in my opinion the prosecution did not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he decided to murder Reeva and then cold-bloodedly carried out that decision.
One thing's for certain; we'll never know exactly what happened on Valentine's Night 2013 in Pistorius' apartment. However, five judges have decided he is guilty of murder and it now only remains for him to be sentenced. My point at the start of this thread is simply that I feel it's time this circus packed up its tents and took to the road.

The main reason that this has gone on for as long as it has is because the defendant is rich and the defence team are getting well paid. If he had been poor he would have been locked up long ago.

He's certainly not rich anymore.

In the past I have seen reconstructions on a tv programmes, with the layouts of the accused home, what led up to tat fateful Valentines day. What I can't understand, is how he didn't not realise or know that Reeva was not in the bed next to him, when he thought he heard 'an intruder' . My first concern, would be of my loved ones, whether it be a partner my or god forbid, children, defending and protection is first. He is disabled, in a vulnerable position with no legs as a way of mobility. My account of what happened, like everyone else's is based on the prosecution and defence lawyers account of what happened, because we were not there.
I believe Reeva sneaked off to the bathroom to make a text call, apparantely Pistorius and Reeva, at times, not getting on prior to that and Pistorius had a controlling, aggressive and abusive nature. I am sure he knew what she was doing behind that door and he did what he did. Murder is an extremely serious crime and the crime must be proved guilty beyond doubt.
Just to add that I agree that 'this circus' has been going on far too long and the horrendous suffering that Reeva's family (and the Pistorius family too) have been going through is heartbreaking. A young and talented young women has lost her life, let Reeva and her family now have some peace and dignity.
