The result of a carb-heavy diet?

Hi

Don't know if this will help but I suffer bipolar 22 years diabetes 2 lupus Tec. Tired severe pain depressed Tec went on low carb after hospital admission on mother's day. Results off diabetic meds. Off steroids heavy duty painkillers and all heavy duty meds. Feel so alive not tired I walk brain working discharged from psychiatric day hospital after 22 years. Have taken up mindfulness try the headspace app for relaxation it's free. Some days worse than others but painkiller now paracetamol if needed. Anything worth a try.

Do you think you may have developed a gluten or lactose intolerance?
Maybe try leaving them out for a week, and see if it helps?

Seriously.. Has this bloating just recently happened?

If you
Have had vices of drinking previously and sugary products they will stick to your waist and you will lose weight elsewhere before stomach shrinks down.
If you've not long given up certain vices then could it be your body adjusting??

If you don't suffer from any of the things I listed then that rules many things out...

My gastro chap this week explained the shape and bloating and size of my colon etc this week to me and more on its workings..
If you are not experiencing difficulties with any colon or stomach emptying then its hard to suggest anything else to help.

Symptoms of intolerances such as gluten or lactose again can cause discomfort but if was true allergy then you would be with coeliac for example or ulcertive colitis etc very ill. Intolerances can make you feel sluggish, tired, bloating but the only way to find out for intolerance to anything is to stop eating those foods for a week.

I would just also check side effects of any meds that you may be on.

Follow up with GP though.

As my GP says, just because you have diabetes, doesn't mean to say that everything is diabetes related or caused because of it.

I guess talking to your GP, getting tests done and looking for the cause is a whole process of elimination for the GP too.

Meanwhile, have a virtual hug - and I really hope you find a solution/a diagnosis soon

Sounds a lot like hypothyroidism but some could be due to anaemia too. Have you had your thyroid hormones checked lately? Ferritin? Hb? Vitamin B12 and folate? Vitamin D?
Also look up cushings syndrome and it's images!
Have you been tested for cushings? @nannoo_bird
