The SCREAM thread

Aghhhhh .... just discovered that my other half (who is also diabetic and therefore should know better), has been adding a little bit of sugar to the cups of tea he has been making me!

He was trying to make a cuppa palatable and enjoyable for me .... I know that, but I am still trying to stabilise my readings and he doesn't have any problems so thinks I won't too. Tried telling him that I don't want the extra sugar. He keeps doing stuff like that - he doesnt test and has good results which is making it difficult for me.

Ooh, feel for you. Ask him has he heard the phrase "killed by kindness" not suggesting it's going to be that bad for you but he might get the hint. Hard when it's being done with good intentions...

OK .. I think I have solved the issue.

We went shopping today for a suit for him. Unfortunately for him, he falls inbetween 2 sizes so I have suggested that for the next 3 weeks, we both try to get slim and fitter to loose a bit of belly, then the smaller size suit would be absolutely perfect for him.

I think its worked! ... then after 3 weeks, what we are doing will become a new habit for us both

I am so devious

At my niece's 30th birthday tea party this afternoon, I didn't expect I'd be able to eat anything and was proved right. There were sandwiches, sausage rolls, scones, various cakes and a lovely birthday cake. I didn't mind, but what did upset me was to hear myself described as Gluten Free Auntie, to differentiate me from another aunt with the same name (both Christian and surname). As a recently diagnosed coeliac, I was moved to tears at the guffaw of laughter from several relatives at this "perfect name" for me. I found this cruel and uncalled for. Luckily my sunglasses would have hidden this from anyone else but I was flaming mad!

@dancer big hugs
for you. I'm sure it wouldn't have been meant unkindly, we just often don't realise that things like that can be upsetting. Let them know it upset you or if you can't face them all tell your closest family member and ask them to pass the message on.

Thanks Sable_Jan, I thought I'd wait till I've calmed down even more than I have already, then contact my sister-in-law to tell her how I felt yesterday. I don't know who came up with name in the first place, but she's the one who said it was the perfect name for me. She knows how sensitive I am at the moment . . . but there was alcohol in the teapots . . .

Frustrated and annoyed
Have been involved in futurelearn which is an elearning free school. I Denise to do a course I was interested in which was "food as medicine" run by Monash Uni here in Australia.
I because annoyed in week 1as it just seemed the same old same old about nutrition. But I have hungry in there hoping it would get better.
Week 2 was just as bad if not worst and I was quite sarcastic and at the same time truthful in my posts on the discussion section.
Well its week 3!
So I start and they have just pushed and pushed Australian dietary guidelines. Thanks argggggghhhh!!!!!

Only one good thing out of it I have identified myself as an orthorexian!!

Orthorexia is an overwhelming concern about the foods one consumer

Fed Up,!!! I don't tend to go to the loo much during the day. However come the night.... I have been up 2x already. & now bladder is making its presence known again. My loo is a long way from my bedroom so it is a real pain!

Maybe you could mention to doctors. A daily water tablet mayb the answer? And move to a bedroom closer to the loo?

You would have hoped if she could think up such a name for you, she would have gone to the trouble to provide something you can eat!

I feel your pain... perhaps invest in an old fashion pot so you don't have to trek to the loo every night?

Whilst my bathroom was being done I had a portaloo in my bedroom cos my other loo is downstairs. Very handy it was too apart from being a bit low
