People. Noise. Swearing. Many foods.
Against my Doctors advice I lost another three pounds in weight over the weekend.

As per usual I just wasn't really into food and even some breaded fish and breaded chicken (all I could actually stomach..) didn't push my sugars up...readings between 4.3 and 5.5. I just don't enjoy the eating "thing"..

I'm under three weeks from my operation, have to do a repeat HbA1c on Thursday, then have the Dentists for a thrice looked at but suspiciously absent from showing, abscess investigation (and I have a dental phobia) - then on Friday I have to go back for my second pre-op to answer questions already asked and submit to whatever tests they deem necessary...

I had an hours sleep last night and its now at least ten nights since I got more than a couple of hours. I have bad dreams when I do sleep or else the slightest twinge of fibromyalgia wakes me up and gets me up and I just give up going back under the duvet..

I'm tired, cant control my weight as I seem to be on a slippery slope down and can't stabilise myself and nothing seems to be going as planned.

Still...I suppose my diabetes is under control...

That is a god thing; sorry about the rest! Not sure about the weight, are you very underweight? I recently had my second hip replacement and lost nearly half a stone. I was already verging on "critically under weight" and that pushed mt over the edge but now I am getting over the op I am back to my pre op weight but only because as my glucose levels were so bad I decided not to worry about them until I had put my weight back on and eat the carbs!!!

I now have to go back on the diet and hope I don't lose any weight.

Hope all goes well for you and I am dure you will get there in the end although the journey can be difficult.

No, not massively underweight but it’s showing more and more...looking a little skeletal in certain areas...

I think people are so used to seeing others who are heavier that they forget what we are supposed to look like at a healthy weight. Look at some clips and photo of people in the 1960-1980's and the average weight was much lower than it is now..

are there any drinks you could have to help you get some nourishment?

Yes indeed but people were also not quite as tall...

I’m just a lanky git..

Not really. I drink sugar free squash and the occasional coffee..that’s it
How about a nutrient drink or food supplement drink? I know you are concentrating on your carbs and blood sugar levels, but having a 'diet' drink, which is fortified with nutrients, like a Slender drink, for example, at this stage, wont harm your level if you are eating so little over a day, and might help you sleep better too. Do you like/can you cope with anything milk based?

sorry, I should have been clearer. I mean proportionally slimmer. A lower average weight per height.
I knew. Yes, being larger was seen very much as the exception rather than the norm...

I like(d) milkshake in small portions. No, you’re correct. I have actually just eaten a huge pile of breaded chicken..a spike won’t kill me..

But I’m just not enjoying any of it..

Can you see it as a means to an end, like having to take medicine?

Not really.

Because I don’t know what the end is. I just know that f I carry on then I’ll just fade away.

the end is to have your operation. Then you have some space to sort out other thing like eating issues. You will not fade away in three weeks.

Patrick can I just ask why you are eating breaded chicken when you could put a whole pile of just chicken in the oven and enjoy it? I am sorry as a chicken fiend I just dont understand what the coating brings, chicken is delicious roasted sprinkled with seasoning.

@Patrick66 , how about hot chocolate, made with cocoa powder, double cream and water, plus sweetener if you prefer it. Loads of calories, packed into a cup or mug.

Just try to keep fairly straight until this op is done. You're unlikely to become medically, concerningly underweight in the intervening period.

Please don't go overboard on the breaded/battered stuff short term, because the A1c is weighted; reflecting the most recent blood glucose performance with more a reference to the older stuff. This is why some folks can see significant improvements to their A1c score in a brief period.

Once your op is out of the way,one big, longer terms stressor will be removed from your life, leaving more energy and head space to deal with the rest of life. Don't under estimate the impact of stress, and this op has been grumbling on for a long time.

Please view eating as a job of work. For the vast majority's of the time, I really enjoy my food, but when eating to a goal (in this instance focusing on gaining weight), it can become a chore, but some chores have to be done.

I hope not.

I hope my operation goes ahead but after three cancellations you never know until it’s done.

Texture.

And I eat a lot of chicken. I mean a lot of chicken and sometimes I need some variety in it.
