Hi All,
New to this forum and to Diabetes (possibly). I have been having what i thought where unrelated symptoms, until i explained them to my wife who works as Ambulance crew. She explained that it sounds like Diabetes. We have been checking my blood glucose levels for the last few days and it ranges from 13.2 (first thing in morning before breakfast) to 24.6 (After dinner and 3 beers whilst out Bowling). I think i will go and see the doctor on Monday. Oh yes, my symptoms are: Constant Thirst, going to bathroom, Blurred vision, headaches, Constant hunger, Genital itching/Thrush, tiredness and lack of energy.

Cheers

Paul

Good morning Paul and welcome to the forum... yes, your best move is to get an appointment with your GP and get tested before any serious damage occurs.

Hi Paul,
Welcome to the forum. You certainly need to see your G.P. a.s.a.p. We cannot diagnose here as we are not medically trained but it certainly looks as though you will be joining our exclusive club.
If you are diagnosed with diabetes then come back and ask as many questions as you want and remember that no question is silly.

Let us know how you get on.

Catherine.

Yep I'd get to see the GP PDQ, you seem to have all the symptoms of diabetes, it might not be that bad, you may be able to control with diet and exercise. Good luck :D

hya paul,
if in the meantime u start feeling very ill plz go to a&e as if its undiagnosed type 1 u can fall ill very quickly and would need urgent help,
let us know how u get on :D

OK, an update.

Went to the Doctors on Monday (who was pretty useless) He said, yes it sounds like diabetes, we will book you in for some blood tests (2 weeks time) and printed off some info from a website and sent me home!!!!!!
Thursday night, started to feel really ill, checked blood sugar 28.1. Phones NHS direct and was promptly whisked into A&E. After spending the night and this morning i have come home as a Diabetic Type 1, A stabby pen thingy, test kit thingy and loads of info and very informed as what i now have to do.
Look like a complete lifestyle change, but am hoping i will be healthier for it.

Let the fun begin.

Paul

Hi Paul :)

Glad you are sorted - but sorry that it had to go critical before anyone did anything.

Suggest you seriously browse the forum and ask any questions you need to as there is a helpful crowd on here. 8)

Hope all goes well for you. :)

hya paul and welcome :D sadly thats how i was diagnosed too hence my earlier warning :D

Paul

Exactly the same happened to me 3 months ago, I was presumed type 2 because of my age (42) and was sent home blood sugar was 51!

After advice from the kind people of this forum I rang NHS Direct and was soon back in hospital with a type 1 diagnosis!

Take care and all the best, this forum is great, lots of good information.

Message me if I can be of help anytime

Catherine

Thanks for replies and looks like this forum will be a great help.
Have an appointment at the diabetic clinic on wednesday so hopefully get some good advice.
Have already been told to increase my insulin from 10 to 12 units following monitoring over the weekend. All ready discovered that a Mcdonalds Veggie Burger is not good
