Thinking of going back on the pump

Has anybody ever gone back to injections after being on a pump and then after a year gone back onto a pump. This is what I am thinking of doing but not sure what to do.

This is what I am thinking of doing but not sure what to do.

First port of call would be discussing things with your DSN/Consultant, what made you change your mind if you don't mind me asking?

If you still have the pump, then its up to you whether you want to use it again. Will you be able to pick up where you left off and re do the basal rate settings doing the bg tests? Is your account still open with the pump company so that you can order all the consumables?

No I have the pump back over a year ago I don't want the same pump I want a different type this time. I am in a very confused state of mind at the moment and don't know what to do for the best.

I don't have a pump but I'm hoping to get one soon. The talk I was given be my consultant was that if I chose one I would have to stick with that one for four years or go back to MDI but they absolutely would not support a change in pump while the first pump's warranty was still effective due to the costs. Of course, if there is a clinical reason why you couldn't get on with your pump that might be different. But it will be for your CCG to decide whether they will a fund a new pump & first you would have to get the support of your consultant that a new pump would be better for you.

If you are confused about what to do for the best, it might be worth having a chat with your DSN so you can get a better idea of what the options might actually be in reality.

I had the Accu chek combo initially then after 5 years I was given the insight which is when I went back to injections because I hated it. I think I will see my dsn and see what advice she can give me.

As we have all told you in the past Steve unless Roche exchange your insight for a combo you will be stuck with it. Besides why should your CCG give you funding for another pump just because you don't like it and deny another person the chance to pump, which is what it boils down to?

With respect @CarbsRok that is only what you think. It might be possible for Steve to exchange with someone else within the group of hospitals under the same CCG who wants the pump that Steve has and he has theirs (see yr DSN Steve). Also, Roche obviously has lost business through not supplying consumables to Steve so it should be no skin of their nose to exchange the Insight for a Combo and resume revenue

Go back to see yr dsn again and find out what happened to the Insight you handed back. Did the dsn give to another pumper or did Roche refund.
Have you still got yr Combo and if so could yr account be activated again so that luer consumables be supplied.

@iHs under hygiene rules Steve would not be allowed to swop pumps with another patient the warranty would be invalid as well.. Noneof this makes any odds though as he has handed the pump back.

a patient at my hosp gave back their insight, i gave back my medtronic. we have swapped, well, will do, once trained on the insight. it is allowed and fine at my hospital.
