Just wondering....... I've been really thirsty over the past few days and have been having to drink a lot of water and feeling really tired . Is this just down to the heat or my diabetes or both?? Is it normal or just me

If you don't have a meter to check if your blood sugar is too high there is no way to tell. Get yourself one if you don't already have. In the meantime, I believe many pharmacies will do a fingerprick test for you, but I'm not sure.
Hope you'll feel better soon!

I think diabetics have the same symptoms when they have hyperglycemia hba1c more than 9mmol But all these symptoms do not mean that you are a diabetic patient just likes to do an analysis to make sure you are okay HBA1C

How much heat are we talking about.

Guess it's what you're used to. 28 to 30 is lovely. Over 40 is scorching. Probably feels just as hot if it isn't the norm. It's winter here an Sydney and I'm freezing my butt off. Only got to 17 today. Hope it settles for you soon.

Hi @Steviechurch74 . You say that you have been drinking lots of water but are you, in turn, going to the loo a lot also?
If you are not passing much pee and it is dark in colour then you may be dehydrated, if you are peeing a lot then it could be your body getting rid of excess water and/or, if you are cutting carbs, getting rid of sugars also.

An electrolyte drink may help. Salt and potassium are the basics; chloride, magnesium and vitamin B12 also.
Please don’t count though on sports drinks to keep hydrated, rather make your own.

A good basic recipe that I use is as follows:
1 litre water
A large pinch of good salt (I use pink Himalayan as it has loads of minerals in it)
Half a teaspoon of cream of tartar - loaded with potassium
A squeeze of lime juice for flavour
Keep in the fridge. Drink with a bit of ice - helps cool down core temperature.

If you like, you could replace the squeeze of lime with one of those fizzy vitamin and mineral tablets that contain the chloride, magnesium and vit B12 but that’s just a thought.

Hope that helps
