This is really getting me down... I've had enough..

Hi Catsymoo, keep positive! I would hound you diabetes team for an Insight or DAFNE course; this is what I have from the Wycombe Hospital Diabetes page

InSight
This is a carbohydrate counting course similar to the dose adjustment for normal eating course (DAFNE) for patients with type 1 diabetes. The course is run by specially trained diabetes specialist nurses and dietitians. The course teaches patients how to adjust their insulin depending on their blood sugar, food intake and exercise levels and enables them to better understand how their body reacts to these variables. This service is run at Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe hospitals.

When I went, there were 8 of us, some pensioners that had been T1 since early teens, and 50/60 years later finally getting to grips with how many carbs versus how much insulin - the diary on what you eat, how much insulin used etc is so helpful.

You do mention that your insulin times change almost daily - your long lasting should be done at the same time every day (some people have to do this twice a day, but same sort of times kept daily) - the "build up" should help if kept at a constant time.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Glucose meters have an error of about 10 to 20% so the higher you are the biggest variation you will see between readings. Good luck with everything, hope you are finding things a bit easier!
