EU funded research from the University of Ireland into beta cell capsules which last 5 years and replicate normal blood sugar management and insulin release...Hoping it doesn't follow the 'IF it sounds too good to be true' rule.

I would hope that an international medical business would commercialise this so I'd be more concerned at the time it would take to become a treatment offered on the NHS given that it is likely to be an expensive procedure. Yet another reason to make sure that organ harvesting is a moral obligation (currently relatives can opt your body out even if you consented to it).
Not that anyone wants my rusty old type 1 organs anyway! Possibly of interest for medical science purposes.
