It is no longer a whole addiction for me. But in this case, I've realised what gets me. I find it difficult to say no to someone, because it's food. I've been raised to say yes to food, because there's so many poor people around.Part of the magic of "curing" our old addictions.. although bread like texture is still a trigger for me even after 3 years of not having it..
I have had peopleI was gifted a box of chocolates at work, I took them home and could not resist.
Have you ever given in?I have had peoplegiftedgive me packets of cigarettes as a gift. I have thrown them straight in the bin, because one puff / inhalation of a cigarette will have me addicted to nicotine again.
No, because I have the will power not to in 27 years of non smoking.Have you ever given in?
I am so happy for you. It has been a solid month for me until this. But I am 100% confident that I will not go near them again, and this has made me stronger to not consume gifted chocolates again. No, because I have the will power not to in 27 years of non smoking.
Are you sure about that...I am 100% confident that I will not go near them again, and this has made me stronger to not consume gifted chocolates again.
Very sure now!!Are you sure about that...
Thanks @zauberflote, it was a 100 per day marlboro red habit that I give up cold turkey.@Tipetoo CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Recovering nicotine addict is every bit as important as alcoholic in recovery.
I made some "keto bread" and my off switch failed completely and I had to eat the lot immediately.. no way would I go anywhere near the "hard stuff" .@bulkbiker so a low carb bready texture would cause you to want more of that bread
I’m sure you’ll manage this. I’m nearly two years from my type 2 diagnosis. Before I used to eat at least one chocolate bar per day whereas now I only sometimes eat 2 x 100% chocolate buttons after dinner and that is plenty.I am so happy for you. It has been a solid month for me until this. But I am 100% confident that I will not go near them again, and this has made me stronger to not consume gifted chocolates again.
My first 'proper' job was in a food research laboratory where we used to mill test samples of wheat into flour. This would then be baked into bread. At the end of each day we could take home as many loaves of warm, freshly baked bread as we could carry. First half of the loaf would be eaten on the way home plain. The second half still warm with a load of butter. No need for dinner. Had no idea what the consequences of this would be 20 years later!I made some "keto bread" and my off switch failed completely and I had to eat the lot immediately.. no way would I go anywhere near the "hard stuff" .
Edit to add when I was a youth I would buy a loaf of bread on my way home from school and eat the lot without anything on it.. a true breadaholic.
I get the occasional complimentary box of chocolates in my name from the pickers with our online shopping order. I pass them on to my partner who is not diabetic. On Mother’s Day just gone, my kids who are away from home clubbed together and had a bouquet of flowers delivered. In the package was a complimentary box of chocolates (my kids were mortified as they would never have deliberately sent chocolates). However I immediately just gave them to hubby without a second thought. How times have changed!
wow you had a fearsome habit with a 100 cigs a day! congrats for giving that up cold turkey.I have had peoplegiftedgive me packets of cigarettes as a gift. I have thrown them straight in the bin, because one puff / inhalation of a cigarette will have me addicted to nicotine again.
