Hope you are all doing well, I wrote three weeks ago in the newly diagnosed forum that I was worried just been diagnosed with type 2 and felt awful.
Since then I have kept to a strict no carbs no sugar eating regime even over Christmas I was 22st 5 and 5ft 8 inches tall. I am a rugby player physic and broad. my blood sugars in hospital were 22. Three weeks in and with purchasing a libre 2 system my levels are now 99% in range over the last 7 days and my weight is 20st 5 I am still 5ft 8 lol. Slowly coming down over this period the animation on my phone clearly sees my numbers dropping which is amazing. My blood pressure is now 119 / 80 which it has never been. I am on high blood pressure tablets, the doctor wanted to increase them 5 weeks ago and I said no. This is all down to what I eat and drink, but there is a question. Last night I felt awful, brain fog headache fast hear rate and flu like feeling. It was after returning to the gym and probably doing to much. Have anyone else three weeks in had keto flu ? everything was moving amazing until last night feels like a set back. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

Are you adding some salt to your food/drinks?
Keto flu is usually an electrolyte problem.

If you previously ate lots of processed food and have cut it out you might be experiencing a lack of salt ..
In addition to the salt - when you start a weight loss diet, the first type of fat to go is glycogen, which is one part glucose, 3 parts water, so you also tend to dehydrate as well.

Ditto the water and the salt
I had all sorts of weird stuff as my body was shedding itself of sugar. The oddest was my legs feeling like water was running up them!!
Also with that rapid weight loss you might need to increase portions a little 2 st in 3 weeks!!! Amazing but be careful to keep up nutrition

I get electrolyte tablets from Holland & Barret.

You might be in some danger if you continue to take the blood pressure lowering medication whilst doing low carb.
I am on a weight loss low carb forum and over the years several people have had falls due to continuing to take the tablets. One was serious, life changing as they fell on concrete stairs. If you do start to notice dizziness when getting up or on stairs, you need to let your GP know.
Your feelings after going to the gym were probably down to the exertion and the changes in diet combined. I don't think you need to consider it a setback, it was a perfectly natural reaction to the alteration and lots of people experience it.
Very few people need to go absolutely zero carb though - I am really sensitive to carbs and find that I can eat up to 40 gm of carbs a day - I have stirfry, mushrooms low carb veges and berries as it helps provide variety and colour and texture.
I have been eating low carb 5 years now and it still feels like the best possible way of eating, but the different sources of carbs help a lot in staving off boredom. At my last visit to the surgery the nurse remarked that I am down 70lb from my heaviest recorded - despite my request not to tell me my weight. I had so many years of being insulted over my weight that I just don't want to know.

I had that feeling too, how weird! It was if my skin was crawling especially on my legs, not had it since I lost the weight.

I had that too to begin with, but it went away thank goodness.

It would be such a help if we were warned about these things.
