Many diabetics suffer from thrush which is a yeast infection called by Candida albicans, Although every one has yeast on their skins in diabetics it is thought that high sugar levels are a probable cause. although it is commonly found on the face, hair groin, and the vagina, or scrotum in men. It can be found on other places on the body including the mouth known oral thrush.

Diagnosis should only be carried out by a health professional. The treatment is effective in the majority of cases and is probably a lot cheaper if you can get it on a prescription

Hope this is useful

I had this for about 3 months the first summer after being diagnosed. I was too embarassed to go to the dr's and did i suffer. So anybody who gets it don't do what I did and suffer. Go to the doctor or your nurse!!

had it terribly bad for 2 yrs ,tried everything and havent had it now for 5 yrs, so fingers crossed :)

I suffered 6 months of vaginal thrush using canesten and fluconazole over and over, and within days all the symptoms returned. I admit, I suspected diabetes as I was losing weight, peeing all night and feeling extremely tired and depressed. I put it down to candidiasis and tried to cut the carbs which made the symptoms a little better....just buried my head in the sand!!
I'm terrified of doctors, and I'm a nurse...HA
I was diagnosed last month after the worst chest infection I ever had. The minute I mentioned drinking 5 liters of water while ill, and peeing up to 5 times a night, the cat was out of the bag!
Straight away I was put on metformin (my BG reading was 18, and 12% over 3 months). Within a week I stopped itching, and the following week all thrush symptoms had disappeared. After 6 months of hell, this was amazing :D
