Lipid numbers are only fine if I carry on taking statins . I am on combination treatment of 20mg Rosuvastatin (Crestor) and Ezetimibe (Ezetrol).

Pavlosn - Am I correct to remember you have familial hypercholesterolaemia, hence the cautious approach with statins? Apologies if I misremember.

100% correct. Well remembered.
I have been on statins for decades now.
Its may even be possible I have them to thank for my diabetes. But I guess they are something I have grown used to. It is what it is.

My much bigger dillema and one i have not resolved yet is that my son has inherited the hypercholesterolaemia. He is 16 now and doctors have wanted him put on statins since he was about 10. My wife and I have so far refused this as we fealt he should at least go through puberty before doing so. Now we will probably let him decide once he is 18. It is very difficult decision as there are no studies of starting statins so young and using them for a very long period.
