Hi,

The past few days I have had quite high morning readings. I have just noticed it seems to be that time of the month. I dont usually know as I have the implant and dont tend to get any periods, which is great.

What Im wondering is, could the higher Blood sugars be because I was about to have a period?

Hi I have higher readings about a week before my time of the month I spoke to my diabetes consultant about it I just kept note of my bs levels & now for the week leading up to my time of the month & a few days in I have to increase my dosage of fast acting insulin (I'm on novorapid) I've been on the DAFNE course so I work out my insulin by ratio so instead of 2:1 (2units per 10grams of carbs) I take a 2.5:1 & it works for me.

I'd suggest speaking to your diabetes nurse or Dr about adjusting your dose they should be able to help you

I think that must be the problem as I just tested and its 10.3. Considering i had breakfast of berries and greek yog almost 3 hours ago, thats far too high. For dinner last night I has a pice of steak with mushrooms and tinned tomatoes, so it shouldn't be that high. Its so frustrating. Glad I don't get many periods!

I know how you feel it's so frustrating I've checked my bloods in the past when my period is due been around 15 taken a correctional dose & its barely made an impact on my levels! You're not alone with this you will probably need to have a little extra insulin for a few days then back to normal :-D
