I think I haven't been signed off because I was originally started on gliclazide that was reduced in the first couple of weeks as I was extremely ill on it. I was then put on Metformin and again was ill with it . Dizzy spells . Vomiting and cramps . I'm going back to my GP on Monday so it may be that he is happy to sign me off then but I received a letter today from hospital recommending the dose of Metformin to be doubled so I'm a bit reluctant to be signed off yet if I get all those same side effects when I get back to work ?
A debt collector. Lol . So my stress levels are sometimes through the roof!!! Especially at this time of year! Lol
Apart from In-Patient hospital care and post recovery time which is stressful physiologically and emotionally people forget that any stressors affect BGs, BP readings and put a lot of strain on your body. If it is so overwhelming that it is causing genuine physical or mental problems then maybe time off is the only option. I had perfect health right up to my forties and was surprised how much I took it for granted.Take care Suggs
Wow !. I had one of those abscess thingy things in my neck. Tennis ball size. Popped up in around three hours. Caused by blood cancer. Not nice is it !. That's why I'm on insulin. They pumped steroids and so many other drugs to sort it out and keep me alive, my pancreas gave up and went south. This all started on boxing day 2013. Still of work. As you say. No opinion.Yeah. Was a shock, my bowel problems were always fobbed off as IBS until I developed peritonitis (very painful, wish you were dead) and they found an abscess the size of tennis ball. It ruptured before A&E, the pain went away and I developed septicemia and a temp of 39.3 C and got delirious. After surgery they told me I had a very bad case of diverticular disease and they removed so much I only have 60cm of colon left. No option to take time off.
Yes. Chemotherapy was the problem but also the lifesaver. My doctor reckons another six weeks at least before I can think of going back to work. I had the last chemotherapy bit in August. I have a review with cancer consultant on Wednesday. So fingers crossed. Feel a lot stronger but no staying power so to speak. I can and do sleep all day sometimes. You getting or feeling better Nuthead ? Just curious to know.
