Type 1 Tinnitus

Hi Busterbill and welcome

T2 here, might still be relevant. I had existing tinnitus from the 1970s thanks to too many repeated loud noises, but it definitely worsened after my BG went out of range around 2010 or so. I had to have tinnitus-suppressing hearing aids around 2015, which helped to lower the tinnitus a bit.

Finally diagnosed in 2019, and BG in normal range from 2020 onwards. A lot of the tinnitus has since gone, particularly on my right side where sometimes there's nothing. Left side has improved but was always much worse and is still fairly constant. I can manage these days without the aids most of the time.

Can't be 100% certain it was the high BGs that made the tinnitus worse and that normal BG has made things a bit better, but that's how it went.

I get Tinnitus in my left ear.
Tends to occur when I am tired. Evening usually.
Usually doesn't bother me too much. Some days worse.

Does anyone suffer from tinnitus and been told it is due to nerve endings

About 14 years ago I was over 200 lbs and I used to have tinnitus in my left ear. Lost lot of weight, now I am around 130 lbs and have no tinnitus at all.

I had really bad tinnitus due, I thought, to the prolonged exposure I had to industrial noise I had to endure back in the days when Health and Safety hadn't been invented.

In the last few years it has reduced to the point that I barely notice it. Two things have happened: I was diagnosed T2 and was able to get my BG down to non-diabetic levels by diet alone, and I was fitted with hearing aids. It would be interesting to know if others have had similar experiences.
