Tired

Hi tam and welcome.
Tell us a bit more about yourself and what advice you have been given and we will try and help you. Tiredness is usually a sign of high blood sugars.
Daisy usually posts some advice for newly diagnosed. She is not here at the moment so I am posting a link.

Catherine, your a gem! Every now and again I get an feeling of overwhelming fatigue. It comes on quite suddenly, then I literally have to fight to keep my eyes open. It lasts around 30 - 45 minutes. It happened while I was in the Doctors surgery on Monday (Doctor just seemed to take it all in his stride, when my eyes were almost closed) Then it happened again this evening. I had just finished dinner, which was very, very low carb fresh fish (cooked in 1% fat milk and water) and a selection of veg.

It is the most peculiar thing I have ever known. One minute you're sitting there and are fine, next minute you are so exhausted, that even a fight to keep your eyes open is a battle. So, at least now I have an idea when/if this happens again, I will know my BS is high. I have ordered a meter, but it still hasn't arrived, so I can't test to see what my BG levels are. But at least now, I have an idea that it's down to high BS. Thank you!!

Hi Tam
Could you tell us a litlle more about yourself and your daily routine. It may be your a little low in yourself. Do you test your own sugar levels, as that may be a little high, even being sugars a little low can make you feel this way.
But one other thing is your body may be low in vitamin B12 which is a mineral, and if this level is low it can make you feel tired.
Just remember we can only go by our own experiences and we are not doctors.
Please keep us informed of how you are getting on.
Take care
Tracey

Another couple of things that can cause tiredness in addition to what has already been mentioned are:
1. Anaemia
2. Vitamin D deficiency
3. Underactive Thyroid.

If your blood sugar is not high, then you need to get tested for the rest.

Hi. I have exactly the same symptoms, I realise now it's when my BS is to high. It feels like I have been drugged sometimes. I'm prediabetic so the Dr says. It seems if my BS goes over 7 I get so tired, at 6 feel pretty good, in the 5s feel super fit. I like to keep my carbs at about 50 a day. We are all different, also a good idea is to put all what you eat into myfitness pal adds it all up for you. I'm new on here but it's a great web site so many people to help you.
