Today was one of those days...

I can totally sympathise.. have similar issues at work, they have a ritual that when its your birthday the birthday boy or girl fetches in cakes!!.....wouldnt care but everyone knows i am T1 but they still say to me "go help yourself to one!!"...quite frustrating and usually just smill and say something like wish i could ...you trying to kill me??" - but have decided that on my next birthday to fetch in some olives, goats cheese, cellary sticks, raw carrot sticks and some tins of mackerell in brine!!! lets just see how they like them banannas!! :-)

People at work know I am T2, but I find it helps to say that I am carbohydrate intolerant. People seem to relate to that more easily. Mind you, I am lucky, often the birthday treats will include berries for me.

I am going to stand up in this topic at this point and say that a cake once in a while is not going to kill you as a T1 (or a T2), in spite of what a lot of posters in here are saying, and in reality as a T1, if managed correctly, is not going to cause a huge swing in blood glucose levels, so it's okay to "Go and help yourself to one" if you feel like it.

And people wonder why there are concerns over stigma related to diabetes?
