I have recently totted up the amount of weekly meds I take and was surprised to find out that I take 50 tablets per week plus one injection. As well as being diagnosed with Type 2 and treated for Cholesterol as well, I was diagnosed with MS and take a weekly injection for this.

Are there many others of you out there taking a similar number of tablets? I worry about the long term effects!

Thanks

112 tablets and 14 injections per week, not counting squirts of GTN as required! Oh, and there are two other medications I "keep by me" for occasional use.
It all depends on the number of underlying medical conditions you have: in my case diabetes, high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, prostate hyperplasia, kidney stones and recurrent inner ear problems. Thank God for the NHS and free prescriptions!

Yes I take same amount of tablets too. I came to realise over the years some of these tabs doesn't do long term good. I look around for alternatives.& adjust.

yes,you are right to be concerned about the long term effects GPS either don't know or aware they are just think the big pharma knows what they are doing. There are so many alternative therapies out there.

I take105 tablets regularly each week plus inhalers and nasal sprays twice a day plus codeine if my arthritis is playing up. I think I must rattle When I go for my monthly meds they arrive in a huge carrier bag

Hi,
To think that I was feeling somewhat sorry for myself and I don't even compare to the levels that you are all taking.
Your feedback helps me put things more into perspective and I thank you so much for that.

Goodness..some of you must rattle!! I've ditched a few so I now regularly take 28 tabs per week plus insulin and sometimes pain killers.

140 and increasing regularly. Due to having cushings disease, uncontrollable diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, osteoporosis, pcos, so on and so on, and yes I would say all the medications do not do any favours to other organs such as kidneys and liver and brain and pancreas...

I'm not saying "like" because of the meds you need to take, but because of your comment about the damage done to other organs. You are SO right!
Best wishes

I'm fortunate to need only one pill a day, but my husband takes a lot. The point I began worrying was when he started being prescribed medications solely to counteract the effects of other medications.

I am told to get a telephone consultation to review meds every 6 months or so I only take metformin so I usually talk to the GP about how he should prescribe me strips ! but I think I would ask to go through all meds I was taking and ask if I still needed certain ones and how they react with others that I was taking A friend was given a prescription which made her very ill and when she did a check she found that the new meds had a bad reaction to what she was taking and should never have been prescribed GPs are not perfect and can make mistakes and some times new meds are
prescribed without a thorough check on what other meds are being taken this includes supplements CAROL

I take 8 puffs of inhalers a day, 5 injections,28 pills ,2-4 sachets lol

Just the one tablet a day thank goodness plus insulin injections, my dear old mum was on multiple tabs a day and she couldn't keep track of them all :(

I take 77 tablets a week plus extra if I'm on antibiotics (I get recurring abscesses that require them). Then I have at least 56 injections a week (short & long-acting insulin plus Victoza too). And the never-ending application of creams for my psoriasis. :)

56, of which 28 are metformin, 14 are thyroid (been taking those since I was 25 after the op to remove my thyroid) a bp tab and an anti inflam each day for my arthritic knee.
