Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. 32 units of novorapid right before bed. I usually take 4 to 8 for my evening meal, so I didn't have a clue what would happen. I had eaten late, and a lot, so force-feeding myself wasn't fun. Drank a lot of undiluted syrup and called the emergency GP. They told me I had the choice between calling a cab and coming over or wake up my neighbour and stay there for the next couple of hours. I had to call them back every half hour with my bg. Which was a problem, as it is a paid number in the Netherlands and my phone refused to call them again after the first call. So I ended up calling the regular emergency number every half hour, apologising and asking to be connected with the emergency gp

After three hours of eating at my neighbours' it looked like my bs had stabilized, so I let him go back to bed and went home. An hour later bg dropped again, so called emergency services again so I could walk over to my other neighbour to try to wake him to drive me to the gp at the hospital. Kept talking to emergency services while doing this to be sure I would be picked up in case I would go unconcious on my way. Other neighbour is an ex-policeman, so this was a wonderful excuse for him to drive like he was still in a police car, was great fun

Stayed for two hours at the hospital gp, eating and checking bg, nothing bad happened, so went home again. Stayed up for another two hours to be sure and finally went to bed at around eight in the morning. Woke up just in time to buy both my neighbours a bottle of wine.
I did keep the short-acting far from my bed where I take the long-acting for a while, but that didn't work out. I love a snack in bed without having to get up to take my insulin, and I conquer my feet-on-the-floor effect by taking insulin right after waking up. So now I just hope I won't make the same mistake again.
