too much pain

I am having a bit of a really down day.
I've gotten my bloods down from an average of over 26 to 10 and my feet, legs, stomach, arms and chest are in so much pain I am really struggling seen the docs dsn with no positive response "might be viral " . I understand that theres a period of your body going through withdrawl but I can't sleep can hardly walk and even vomit if I try and do average stuff.
 
if it is so bad then i would see a different dr if thats possible?

Lantus is associated with the sort of pain you describe. 3 years ago I was mis-diagnosed with fibromyalgia after suffering constant pain in my shoulders, arms, chest and cramps and pains in my legs. I could barely carry a light shopping bag or hold my arms up. I had first been referred to physio and when she could find nothing wrong, a rheumatologist. He too was at a loss. Because I had been feeling exhausted and ill also, he suggested it could be fibromyalgia, which has similar symptoms to ME. I was so desperate for a diagnosis at that point, that I was relieved.
However it was not Fibromyalgia but a side-effect of Lantus, and a commonly reported one too.
Since coming off it in May 2008 an switching to pork, I no longer suffer from the afore-mentioned ailments. I have also been in contact with many other people who have experienced similar side-effects and worse on synthetic insulins,but particularly Lantus.
I also had erratic inconsistent BG control, daily it would go from 2-15(or higher :evil: ). My consultant said that was ok,so long as it came down again!
Funny thing is that having been type-1 for nearly 20 years at that point, I had not got a clue that synthetic insulins could cause any side-effects. I was only ever concerned about the preservatives-you live and you learn :)
Please give the IDDT(insulin dependent diabetes trust) a call. The number is on their website, that's worth a look too.

thanks for that. asked the dsn about allergic reaction and she denied all knowledge but just have to keep going back til I win or they just get sick of me and give in :)

Can't say I'm surprised by your DNS response. Myself and another forum member have also had strange reactions from DSNs with regard to this. They are not being honest; these side-effects have been know since before Lantus was licensed in this country. Here is a link to prove this. http://emc.medicines.org.uk/medicine/89 ... lled+pen./
Although it states that Myalgia is a "very rare" side-effect, this information would be based on the results of the original clinical trials which were only carried out over a period of 28 weeks. However, many people do not suffer side-effects until they have been on Lantus for over a year.
