Hi all
I recently gained weight again after a medication change and a big fall off the keto wagon. I thought this time I would aim for low carb instead (which made me lose weight before at this weight) but... no weight loss. I am returning to keto, reluctantly, to see if that does the trick but wondered if it is a recognised thing that weight loss is harder second time around and requires even lower carbs to achieve?
PS started empagliflozin yesterday so that should help!

If you are taking any glucose reducing medication, you will need to be careful about cutting down on carbohydrates, and may need to consult your GP or diabetes team about changes in diet,

For me "keto" is in it's simplest form is just a lower carb version of the LCHF style of eating, it's not a magic weight loss diet as such. "Keto" is just a trendy name for ketogenic, and means that you are eating few enough carbs to start creating and eventually using ketones and burning body fat in preference to using carbs for your energy source.. This is perfectly natural and normal so you can't get too used to it. But neither are specifically a weight loss diet - you can and do lose weight on both, and if you stop losing weight you may need to cut down slightly on the fats (as well as the carbs) you consume to ensure your body resorts to using stored fat to make up for the incoming "fuel" deficit.

Hi there,
If I was you I would talk through the combo of empagliflozin and keto with your dr. before you try it as there have been cases of ketoacidosis linked with this medication in connection with a low carb diet.

Wishing you all the best.
