Top of abdomen pain on Metformin and Canigifloxin

Does anybody else get pain and discomfort in the top of their abdomen as a side effect when taking Metformin and canigifloxin.
I have taking Metformin for 13 years plus, thanks.
 
Is the pain new? Is the canigifloxin new?

If you’ve been taking Metformin for so long, I’d have expected any side effects from that to have shown up much earlier. Sounds like a chat with the doc is in order.
 
One problem associated with the SGLT-2 medications (the 'gliflozis) is urinary tract infections. It is caused by the extra glucose in the wee being a nutrient for microbes and they multiply. Usually, it is at the last stage that this happens and leads to the prurient itch that is uncomfortable but not dangerous. However, some infections can occur earlier in the chain and affect the bladder and even the kidneys. These infections are dangerous and need immediate treatment.

See your doctor if the pain persists. You may need antibiotics. I suffered this effect quite badly myself when I went onto this type of med, and it was one of these high powered infections that needed a very strong antibiotic that in itself had a list of side effects and warnings that extended over two pages of the user instructions leaflet in the box. Not pleasant once one of these events gets a good grip.

Not sure if this has posted. The pains in the top of my tummy is new. Reduced Metformin from 2000mg to 1500mg due to pains. Canigiflozin I increased from 200mg to 300mg but couldn't stop drinking and running to the bathroom. I feel full alot with a solid tummy. I think going to the Dr is a right choice and thankyou. I reached out in case this was normal.

Thankyou for your reply, I had not thought about this at all. I assumed because my bloods came back ok hba1c 68 that all was ok. Some nights I felt a bit sick and very hot, so maybe this is what it could be. As the other person also suggested...a trip to the Dr I think. Do you feel as.though your digestion is affected? Thankyou

I have never had an infection that travelled inland if you catch my drift, so cannot say what other symptoms you might get from bladder or kidney uti. Suspect it to be more painful than merely itchy, and yes, a fever or high temperature might occur as well. It is after all an infection, so will be triggering immune responses.
