i posted on here a few days ago to say I had my first blood test results since being diagnosed and my Ac1 was down from 68 to 29
I was so happy and feeling very positive. Today I came home from work to a message on my answer machine to say my bloods hadn’t been Analysed in the lab so I will have to go back and have more bloods taken but have nothing to worry about !
So does that mean the results the doctor gave me were totally wrong ? What were the results the doctor had ? I don’t understand and it’s bank holiday weekend so I won’t be able to even speak to anyone till Tuesday! I’m so upset .

@LynnieG33 how frustrating for you!

We can’t know what has happened with the bloods. Were you self testing? If so you may have seen a downward trend and have an average reading that gives you an idea of progress.

I recently had a full set of bloods done, two different tubes were sent off. One I believe would have gone to the haematology lab which looks at the HbA1c, red blood cells, white blood cells etc... The other would have gone to biochemistry which looks at things like liver and kidney function. I’m just guessing but if they took two tubes from you maybe only one went astray. However I do sympathise hugely, I had had a routine blood test two years ago before I was diabetic just before this Mayday BH w/e, and had a text msg come through after hours on the Friday to say I needed to make an urgent appt! It was it turns out my diabetes diagnosis, I had no clue!

Hi,
So sorry this has happened to you, it maybe your dr wants to confirm the hbac1 is correct.
Take care

The HbA1c test, as @Rachox says, is in a separate vial and sent to a different part of the lab. Other tests that were done and the blood collected in different vials, are sent to other parts of the lab. Maybe it was not the HbA1c vial that went astray.

As you were given the result of the HbA1c, it cannot have gone astray, it was clearly analysed. It looks like it was the other tests that went astray - what other results were you expecting? Liver and kidneys? Cholesterol? something else?
