Hi
just got my start date for a pump next month I've been doing my home work and it looks like i might not be able to make the insulin last 3 days with out refilling.Total insulin a day looks like 112 units. but not counting snack adjustments etc. Help what happens do i refill after just 2 days ? .

Hi caretaker. I am the same as you and have been refilling every 1.5 - 2 days. With my pump (Animas Vibe) I don't have to change the infusion site, I can just fill up the cartridge and plug it back in to the same place. This means I still only need one 'needle' per three days, even if I have to fill up the insulin more often.

Bear in mind that for most people, their dosage drops once they start a pump - I started a thread on this recently. So once we get all our settings right we might be able to go the three days without refilling :)

thanks
at the moment i do so many adjustments i'm getting a bit sore and running out of sites or i have so little food the sound of my belly rumbling keeps me awake at night. 30 years ago i could get away with insulin injection once a day but now i need my life back.

That all sounds very familiar. I was having a teeny tiny breakfast or else I'd have to use two syringes just to get enough insulin to cover it, plus a correction for dawn phenomenon. Another bonus with the pump is that you can use many more sites and over a wider area, so you won't have to use the places you currently have lumps or soreness.
