I started Toujeo as my first basal insulin in June (or July?) 2016, without bolus but with oral meds. As of Jan 2nd I'm on a bolus/basal regime.
My fasting values are great in the mornings and I have very good control, with virtually no nightly hypos or hypers. I do experience dawn phenomenon, but my first waking values are consistently around 6.0 or lower because the Toujeo catches the small rises I experience. They start to creep up after I wake up and get active though, so I double my bolus insulin for breakfast.
The Toujeo works perfectly for me. It doesn't stop DP for me, but it does seem to curb it enough to give me a good headstart in the mornings.
