While looking at low carb bread I came across a traffic light label

Who chooses what colour to put on each item and why. Is fat orange because there is not enough of it and sugar green because it won't harm you. Why is salt orange and where is the total carb figure. We are talking bread here.

Just asking.

Squire, in my experience the traffic light label is usually on the front of the packaging, with the more expansive information, usually including the carbs, on the rear/underside or certainly somewhere else.

I don't disagree but isn't it supposed to be simple and aimed at people who do not wish to look at the complicated stuff.and it still does not say who is making the judgement about what is given which colour.

You would guess if you buy it in the EU, it's going to be to EU guidelines.
Well publicised, and recognised by all members and companies that supply into the EU I would expect.

I believe, in the UK, the regulations are maintained by the Food Standards Agency, but the laws themselves, I believe are UK, with a raft of European lobbed in.

This labelling nonsense is enough to justify a Brexit alone! It highlights just how much of the world has no idea of the importance of carbs and that sugar is just another carb.

I think it was the arrogance as well as the lack of information that got me. It's one thing to have the fat content listed but quite another to tell me that's orange. I suppose it goes red at higher contents. I'll shut up now, I have made my point.
