It is pleasing to read some good news this week despite the dull and gloom of the budget. NICE are pressing to ban all trans fats from foods and pressing food manufacturer's to further reduce the levels of saturated fats and salt added. As heart disease and strokes are still the UK's biggest killer, it is a sensible approach to reduce unnecessary deaths from these conditions.....have a read!

Thanks for that Nigel, interesting.
IMHO this is the right way forward, banning trans fats and calling for a reduction is saturated fats and salt.
They say that there is evidence from other countries that these sorts of changes in diet can improve overall health.
Catherine.

In Mail today trans fats wont be banned by goverment.
Wife was livid after reading that Elmlee 55% less fat cream which she uses sparingly for treats has nearly 100% more transfats than real full fat double cream, 26% of it is hydrogenated vegtable oil what a con you sort of expect them in junk food but this is junk food displayed beside real cream in the supermarket.

I think I agree with the cat farm not factory. Wish labels were easier to read and they would just be upfront about whats in things no wonder people are fat when you see how much sugar is in things that claim to be healthy.
My weekend treat of a Saturday night pudding profeteroles this Sat will now contain real cream.
