Has anyone found the diabetes uk travel insurance useful. I got quote of £5000. Worst I got elsewhere was £500.

not pleased.

I’ve used Staysure, they say they cover most pre-existing medical conditions. It was a couple of years ago but I’m pretty sure they weren’t extortionate. I don’t know how good their claims are dealt with as I was fortunate enough not to have to claim.

I've used comparison sites and was pleasantly surprised to find that the results came up with one or two options where the insurance premiums were not too much higher than before my diagnosis.

I used SAGA recently and they were very reasonable. I asked for a quote from Staysure for a trip to the USA. The response was over £2000. Needless to say I did not accept the quote

I've been trying to find insurance for a trip to the US not including cruise options. So far the cheapest I have found was of all places Admiral at around £380 + for an annual joint policy, this included a 10% discount, single trip was around double - no idea why. This was basic cover so would not cover the full cost of cancellations. My comorbidities are Diabetes, High Cholesterol and Cervical Spondylosis and my husband has Mild Asthma.

It is important for me that my diabetes and any potential complications are covered by my travel insurance. I do not wnat to experience a problem with my kidneys whilst in USA, for example, an be told that because it may be due to my 20 year old diabetes, it is not covered. With so many potential complications of diabetes, I worry an insurance company could use it as an excuse not to cover me for all sorts of reasons including kidneys, heart, feet, eyes, and even tripping over due to a hypo.

As a regular traveller, I take out annual travel insurance. I have found AllCleasr to be reasonably priced for me: I am in my 50s and have no other medical conditions. Last year, my annual world wide insurance (excluding Cruises) was under £200.

I use Barclays Travel pack for £12.50 a month and that includes my wife. I am T1 and also have colitis, psoriasis, and asthma. They cover us for the Far East and Canada and the US as well as Europe. We happily have not claimed but others who have appear happy.
