Hi
I am planning on taking my daughter to Holland for about 4 days. She is newly diagnosed. I appreciate that I need to get her travel insurance, but don't know the best company to approach. Any tips on managing diabetes abroad, would be appreciated, as feel anxious about taking her, as she is only 8 and sugars seem to be all over the place still.
Thanks. Hayley

Check this page out for travel advice. I believe we have a couple of members who live in Holland, they will be able to offer you specific advice about the Dutch side of things.

As for travel insurance, there's always this link. I expect other members will be able to offer more advice than I can.

Regards, Tubs.

You are going to an advanced country where everyone seems o speak English
Have Fun! Don't forget to look up to the sky. You might spot storks.

Hi - is your daughter on insulin, if so ask your doctor to write you a letter regarding carrying needles and sharps in your hand luggage on the aeroplane. We usually give the letter at the security section, where they x-ray your hand luggage.

I am taking both my boys (aged 13 and 17) to Amsterdam in the summer.

Please let me know what things you enjoyed doing, once you have actually been. We went a few years ago to a camping site called Rabbit Hill and then went to a centre parks at Die Kempervenen. We particularly enjoyed an Ape park (Apenheul?)

Steven has diabetes and had it when we went. It didn't stop him doing anything eg trying to snowboard. We found the drivers to be very courteous.

Thanks for your posts. Will speak to her Doctor, thanks and will get her travel insurance sorted. Hope its not too expensive. But, as long as shes covered, then that's my main priorty!
