I fly to Edinburgh occasionally but it's from my local airport, so my experience won't help you much if you're going from Heathrow or Gatwick, though I think they've now all got their acts together a bit more in relation to queues for Security and suchlike, which used to be diabolical, especially in high season.

I'm sure you've got this covered, but make sure you've got some official photo ID with you - such as a UK driving license or passport. Even though you're not leaving the country (Scots Nationalists may not agree about that, of course :)), the airline will still insist on your having some means of identification.

I love Edinburgh, it's so beautiful and old town. I love to watch its streets on https://worldcams.tv/cities/edinburgh-royal-mile webcam. Edinburgh it's Castle, Royal Mile, Scott Monument, Holyrood, Princess Street, Forth Bridge, Forth Road Bridge are the things that come straight to mind. I was in Edinburgh while travelling, the city is worth a visit.
