Travelling lunch

Hello
I'm going away on business and will be spending most of the day on a train. On the way it's no problem. I can take a lunch from home. Coming back the next day though is more problematic. Can't take lunch for 2 days as no fridge! What do others do when faced with the food outlets at stations? All ideas very welcome!
Trish

Pret a manger do lots of great salads and breadless sandwiches, just watch some of the dressings, subway do salad bowls, if you can get to an M&S they do lots of foods that are suitable. Tesco bag of salad leaves, meat cheese, pate,

I would probably commando roll into an M&S, corner shop, or supermarket on my way to the station (there always seems to be one near a station) and buy bottled water, cold meat, cherry toms and pork scratchings.

Alternatively, i could live for a day on Costa Americano and cream, but not all the coffee chains serve cream, so i would check before ordering.

Pork scratchings. Some people like Pepperami, Beef Jerky/Billtong that sort of thing. They can be thrown in a bag and left of weeks on end, as "emergency rations".

If it's one day, it doesn't matter of your day loses it's nutritional balance, if you usually strive for it.

Thanks Guys. I was thinking pepperami, mixed nuts or something similar.

Oh, nice! Can I expect that the whipped is cream sugar free?

Sorry, no idea about the whipped cream (but if it comes out of a can nozzle, I spsect it will have sugar)

I just say 'Decaff Americano please, and can I have cream with that?'
If I am drinking 'in' they give me a little jug of pouring cream alongside a mug of black coffee, and if I am drinking 'out' they usually make the coffee and then ask me how much cream I would like. I watch them pour it into the paper cup and say 'when'.

Nuts, cheese, tub of olives, tomatoes, salad leaves ...

Thank you, Brunneria.

Morning. Today's the traveling back day. There's a mahusive sainsbury next to the hotel so I popped in last night & picked up some bits & pieces for the journey back.
Initially packed a couple of bags of mixed nuts, some pepperami type sausages and a couple of baby bel (thoughI ate the cheese last night) in case of emergency.
Was a Starbucks at one of the changeover stations so had a cheeky coconut milk latte ;-)
Going well so far. Thanks for all your suggestions.

Ready prepared salad but ditch croutons and dressing if contains sugar (and most will). Pork scratchings, nuts, prosciutto, cottage cheese, shell-on prawns, peeled prawns, pickled cockles, gherkins or cornichons, pickled egg, coleslaw if you can find some without sugar.

Someone mentioned beef jerky / biltong but you need to check the labelling - not all jerkies are created equal! In Tesco the Biltong is low carb but the jerky can be quite high.

Home again now. Was not as bad as I thought.
Took a Lidl HP roll in my luggage (?!) bought some squeezy cheese & 'procured' some butter from breakfast buffet! Had this for tea on train on way home. Also bought a sugar free jelly pot but didn't eat.
Only problem was lunch as I hadn't booked a special diet one & had to make do with real bread sandwiches. Limited myself :-( Will check ahead next time, or take my own lunch.
Munched on pepperami, mixed nuts & pork scratchings on train. Lots of water & a soya latte.
No difference in BGs to a 'normal' day, so think I have it sort of sorted. Thanks again for all your suggestions.
