Hi guys
I was wondering if anyone could help husband and I. My husband is a type 1 diabetic. He amazing at controlling and managing his diabetes very well, his recent HBa1C is 37 which is excellent but he does get the odd night time hypo. Due to the fact he so well controlled according to his GP he hasn't been to any diabetes clinic his he was a teenage (32years now).
We went to his GP recently and found out there a diabetic clinic on a Firday which we were unaware off and ask to be referred. Because of these night time hypo. I feel, tho his HBaIC is 37 is just too long, there is a significant decrease of the 5 years gone from 54, 45, 42 and 37. I just don't want it going any longer.
So we were referred and he got phone from a diabetes nurse and she recommend new long term insulin Tresiba, told to start with 50 units at night. He using novorapid during the day and levemir at night. That's all we have been told. My husband is slight worried when to start it? how much is will effect him? we understand that it last long and might not need to give himself much of the novorapid.
I was wondering is anyone else using this insulin if you can advice what you do? How much it effects their sugars etc
many thanks
