ive been type 1 for 40 years and have always struggled with my levels. Currently at 95.
I switched 5 days ago from a split levemir 28/12 to a Tresiba of 32. My
Levels are very high during the day 15-20 but come 1am they start falling until I hypo at 4am with 2.9.
I’m reluctant to increase the dose because of the night hypos should I give it more time to settle?

Unfortunately this is a common problem with Tresiba, where a single dose cannot meet your basal needs for 24 hours despite the marketing hype. You might have more success splitting it. What were your problems with Levemir?

I liked the idea of not doing an evening injection so reducing to 4 a day instead of 5. Irrational I now realise. I asked my consultant if I could change and he just wrote out the prescription with no real advice.

I think the problem is most of us type 1s have different basal needs for day and night and a 24-hour insulin just isn't suited for that. Yes, there are people who do well on Tresiba, but I read just as many comments echoing my own experience - that it causes crazy lows at night and highs during the day or vice-versa. Unfortunately your only option to avoid 2 injections might be an insulin pump.
