Both middle fingers physio no helpHi,
I know I’ve asked before on here if anybody has trigger finger, but as the one I have on my right hand is very painful I contacted my dr via the patches system asking for some painkillers for it. I now have an appointment with a physio in a few weeks. Had anyone else been referred to physio and did it help?
I am a diabetic with trigger finger. Personally- I had 4 injections on left hand and then surgery and 1 in right hand, waiting for surgery-the pain eased with the injection for about 6 months so this time I decided to have the injection but also be listed.Hi,

I had trigger finger in one hand, it was not something I’d heard of before. Had lots of treatments but the only long term solution was surgery. It has been fine ever since.Hi,

Bizarrely, I suffer from trigger toe—3rd toe on left foot. InvariablyThe cause or reason for developing diabetic trigger finger remains unclear. It is thought that chronic hyperglycaemia creates cross-links between collagen molecules and this results in collagen build-up in the tendon sheaths around the flexor tendons. The duration of diabetes, age of the patient, and glucose control are thought to affect the severity of symptoms. Incidence of trigger finger in the general population is between 2% and 3%, compared with 10% in the diabetic population. Older adults and those who have had diabetes for many years are the most likely to develop diabetic trigger finger.

HiHi, I had trigger fingers on both hands and nothing worked to release them. I was referred to a hand surgeon who operated to release them, quite a bit of physio afterwards. But for the past 20 years (apart from arthritis in both hands) I haven’t been troubled with trigger fingers again, he did a great job. He also told me that it is a quite common complaint amongst diabetics! I wore splints as well for a while to stop the curling out of shape but once everything had healed didn’t need them anymore. There is always help out there in some form or another so don’t suffer in silence, it can get better. Good Luck.
Yes, I've had trigger finger in one of my thumbs and also one of my little finger's. My physio injected them both with steroid injections. Which really helped. I haven't had it sinceHi,

How long did it take you to heal after surgeryHi,
Yes I’ve had several trigger finger op all successful, The consultant said Tendon issues are common in diabetics as they are affected by raised blood sugars. Hence causing trigger fingers!
Iv had the injections a few times so I'm having to have surgery now . Iv had carpul tunnel surgery now having trigger finger done , both on the same hand . Thank you for the information. Not long, but my work involves typing so it took a bit longer. You can use your hand soon after gently but I’d say 6 weeks and it’s fine. It’s a very quick op for which you’re awake. They will try cortisone injections first though which might help instead of an op?
My L one needed surgery, R one just had injection but waiting for surgery too. Had 4 in Left. Took a while to stop triggering even after the surgery but it did eventually. Both middle fingers physio no help
Cortisone injection. Lasted a month so in the end both were operated on with 100 % success hope you get sorted y

Injections help temporarily but surgery stopped it! Mind you that was only 2 years ago!Hi Sarah
I've been diabetic since 1979 and have had multiple trigger fingers as well as carpel tunnel. My hand specialist just took me straight to surgery as nothing else helped; not physio or steroid injections. He said that it was frequently the case with Type 1 Diabetics (plus women of a certain age). I have even had it come back after surgery due to thickening of the tendons. I think it really depends on the person as we all react differently, but from my own experience, I don't think just physio will do much.
No help via physio. Had a cortisone injection which lasts for about 6 monthsHi,
