My technique might not be as 'safe', but I starve myself to get my body used to the temptation of not eating anything rather than stuffing myself, plus I have financial difficulties which makes it rather a forced starvation than intentional. I've never been above 9 stone so I don't know how hard it is to lose weight, a bit like smoking or drugs I don't know how hard it is to stop.
Plus the reason I am underweight is because I have no breakfast and rarely have lunch/dinner, put together with stress of everyday life, anxiety and other problems that I have. However I think sugary food like cakes, chocolate, biscuits, and condiments should be taken out altogether, the more you put off temptation, the more used to it you get (in my experience).
